The New Year's Day Blog

"New Year, New Me".

As I've grown older and my common sense has slowly trickled back in, I realize that this is probably one of the worse holidays in terms of lies and broken promises. This has probably had more heartbreaks than Valentine's, Christmas, Halloween and birthdays combined. Every single year people get to December and start yelling out the phrase "when January 1st hits", and subsequently back slides right back into what they said they were going to quit. This literally happens every single damn year.

EVERY SINGLE YEAR!

It happens because people are in fact what we think they are, humans. Well all know for the most part that people typically fail to live up to their resolutions and goals for the new year. It's just common knowledge, yet people continuously make these vows every year regardless of how foolish they look. When I was talking about writing this post one of my friends said that I should just let people live and let them make false resolutions if they want to, it's their life.

While that may be true, this is still my blog and I do what I want lol. But seriously though, one of my other friends was talking to me about making these same false promises and I had to promptly stop them right there. I asked them why not just set a series of smaller goals that are attainable throughout the year and then just build themselves up their ultimate goal, the New Year's resolution that they set out to make. Then I quickly realized the truth behind New Year's resolutions:

They are all bullshit.

Hear me out on this one. People have been known for following trends and doing what the crowd does. It's definitely picked up within the last couple of years due to social media becoming a thing and those who can't make decision for themselves find avenues where people enable their lackluster thinking. I mean it's all fine and dandy that people need other people to show them the way in life, but it's not fine when that person brags about the goals they set, then let them flounder to the wayside and then gets mad when someone brings those goals up.

I just get so confused by these back and forth emotions :( lol.

My advice is just as the same as I gave my friend, build yourself up. If you're really interested in making a change for the better, set smaller goals and work your way up. But if you're not going to work on yourself, just do yourself a favor and not make any goals because in the end you'll only look like a person no one can depend on because you can't even complete goals you self for yourself. Then again some people like having stuff to complain about, so if that's you, then go for it.

That's just my little spill about the New Year's holiday season. I would like to point out that regardless of all that's been going on in this world, it is really great that we get to see another year on this planet. If you have any comments you would like to add about this holiday, then leave it in the comments section below.

Until next time guys!
